Summer of 2011

I don't remember a summer when the bugs were so bad. Just a few feet outside the door, you are swarmed with gnats and mosquitoes. And they swarm your face and neck - and like to buzz into your ears.

I douse myself with bug spray, vanilla, and/or Absorbine Jr, but nothing helps a lot. Its unpleasant to stay outside for very long, which is a shame. After the rough winter, I'd like to spend more time outside.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised. After all...this is Iowa and the weather is always doing something weird it seems.

Monday morning...8:11a.m. Foggy and humid. Awakened at a few minutes after 5:00a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep. Have taken the dog out twice and he has completed all his duties. Read the mail in both email accounts. Read the news sites. Played a few games. Now what?

Every day is the same. By 9:00am I have nothing left to do. Oh, sure I can always find some chores to do, but nothing to occupy my mind. The boredom and loneliness is relentless.

Beautiful weather

At long last, I believe winter is over. And now, we are having April showers - in May. ha Weather man says we get one nice day without rain this week, and today is the day! Predicting 81 degrees. A week ago, it was 40.

I need to get outside and plant some seeds and 'fix' the plants I put in on Sunday that got beat up in yesterdays storm. Smashed my geraniums.

Otherwise, will be a quiet day.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!

I've had a great weekend. Mike and Dakota came Friday night. Saturday, we went shopping and then he took me to dinner. Sunday, out to breakfast. Kevin called for a long chat, and Connor got on and wished me a Happy Mother's Day and said he loved me. Cute, cute, cute!

Spirits greatly lifted.
